News from Sunday 4 March


ALPHA  Our ten-week Alpha course, exploring what Christianity is all about, started last Tuesday. It’s not too late to join, so do come along if you’d like to find out more about the Christian faith and haven't done Alpha before - in church at 7.30pm.

FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT  We are in Fairtrade fortnight. Next Sun 11 March our Fairtrade Stall will be offering free tasters of Fairtrade snacks. Also, The Real Easter Egg, which has a booklet telling the Easter story included (as well as being made from fair trade chocolate) will be available to be ordered, as these are selling out quickly! If you would like any Easter eggs, orders need to be given to one
Our annual Holiday Club for children age 4-11 is back!  
The club will run from Tue 10 Apr to Thu 12 Apr : 10am to 12pm
We will be finding more out about who Jesus is through plenty of fun activities, Bible stories and more!  We will also have the Bouncy Ark out on all 3 days of the club as we will not have The Ark event on during April. 
Tickets are £5 per child per day OR £10 for 3 days per child
and ticket sales begin next week on Sunday 11 March.  Please see Mariam or Dee for more information and invite your friends to join in! 
SPLICED?  Does anyone in St Gabriel’s know how to splice a fairly thick piece of rope?  Our church bell rope has broken and the major bell companies either won’t reply to us or want to charge us a lot of money.  We are looking to join up some rope and neatly and securely tie it in a loop.

LENT, HOLY WEEK AND EASTER  There’s a new programme leaflet out - have a look and see what you’d like to join in with, as well as info about topics and services on Sundays. Here’s one:

ROBERT JAMES  Many will know now that Robert, part of St Gabriel’s church family over many years, died on 16 Feb. We give thanks for his life. The funeral will be in St Gabriel’s on Fri 16 March at 11.30am. 
If anyone coming along is able to help lead the singing, please have a conversation with Jane or Dudley.
Please pray for Vivian and the rest of Robert’s family, and for his friends.
